Sunset Point Island Hop - Breaking Point & Giveaway!

When the five of us started getting serious about attempting to write a series together, I had some reservations. Not about the people I’d be working with or the amount of work we were undertaking, but about the subject matter.  We were discussing writing contemporary stories. Contemporary, as in no werewolves, vampires, ghosts, selkies or things that go bump in the night. I’d never written anything but paranormal at the time; so the idea of writing something where no one sported fangs or had a blood addiction was going just a little outside my comfort zone.

How the hell was I going to make it through an entire story where everyone was a plain old human?
The next challenge was coming up with a plot summary so that we could make sure all our stories would mesh without being too similar. I am not a plotting sort of writer. I am a true pantser, writing by the seat of my pants with the vaguest of outlines and a plan that invariably changes as the story unfolds. Only this time, it couldn’t. I had to include certain scenes and stick to the story I had told the others I was writing.

No paranormal twists and a binding plot line… my muse went into paralytic shock and then vanished with a petulant wail.  It took me three days and a dozen cupcakes to get her to speak to me again, and then we got to work.

Breaking Point is a first for me in many ways.  It was my first contemporary romance, my first successful collaborative project, and it marks the first time I met four women just as crazy as I was. We took a moment of “wouldn’t it be fun if…” and turned it into a series of books while managing to keep what was left of our marbles.

I hope you enjoy Breaking Point and the rest of the series as much as we did creating them.

Just leave me a comment at the bottom of this blog telling me which is your favourite genre of romance, and if you’re feeling verbose, tell me why. Don't forget to leave me an email address so I can notify the winners.
